Enrollment and Registration
How do I enroll in a course?
Enrolling at Kukai Academy is simple. Visit your nearest branch in person or contact them directly via phone or email. Our staff will assess your current Japanese level, discuss your learning goals, and recommend the most suitable course for you. You can also fill out the contact form on our website, and we'll reach out to guide you through the process.
Is there an entrance exam or placement test?
Yes, for students with prior Japanese knowledge, we conduct a placement test to ensure you're enrolled in the appropriate level. This helps maximize your learning efficiency. Complete beginners can start directly with our N5 beginner course without any test.
What documents do I need to enroll?
You'll need a valid ID (passport or national ID card), proof of address, and one passport-sized photo. For students under 18, a parent or guardian must complete the enrollment process and provide consent.
Can I transfer between branches if I relocate?
Absolutely! One of the advantages of Kukai Academy's global network is seamless transferability. If you move to another city where we have a branch, your course progress and credits transfer automatically. Simply notify your current branch at least two weeks before your move.

Do you offer online or virtual classes?
Currently, all Kukai Academy courses are conducted in-person at our physical locations. We believe face-to-face instruction with native Japanese teachers provides the most effective and immersive learning experience.
What if I miss a class?
We understand that life happens. If you miss a class, you can access course materials and assignments through your student portal. We also encourage you to coordinate with classmates or speak with your instructor for a brief catch-up session before the next class.

Partial refunds are available for early withdrawals within the first two weeks of course commencement. After this period, fees are generally non-refundable. Specific terms are detailed in your enrollment agreement.
Are there any additional fees?
The course fee covers tuition, materials, and access to facilities. There may be separate fees for JLPT exam registration (administered by official testing organizations, not by Kukai Academy) and optional cultural activities or study trips.
JLPT and Certification
Does completing a course guarantee JLPT certification?
While we provide comprehensive JLPT preparation and our students have excellent pass rates, we cannot guarantee exam results as the JLPT is administered by independent organizations. However, our structured curriculum is specifically designed to prepare you thoroughly for each level.
When and where are JLPT exams held?
JLPT exams are typically held twice a year (July and December) at authorized test centers in various countries. We provide information about registration deadlines and test locations, and can guide you through the registration process.
Do you provide certificates upon course completion?
Yes, you'll receive a Kukai Academy certificate of completion when you successfully finish a course level. This certificate verifies your study hours and level completed, though it's separate from the official JLPT certification.
